NeilPryde Fly IV PRO – High performance Aluula wingfoil

The NeilPryde Fly IV PRO is the freeride–performance wingfoil developed directly from race prototypes, designed for those who want more speed, control and precision in every maneuver.

Thanks to the Aluula Aeris™ and Aluula Aeris X™ construction on the leading edge and central strut, the Fly IV PRO offers an exceptional stiffness-to-weight ratio, very efficient power and impressive stability even in strong and gusty winds.

The high-tension canopy profile, race-inspired leading edge geometry, and short wingspan make it ideal for fast freeriding, carving, jumping, and technical maneuvers, often allowing you to use a smaller size without sacrificing low-end power.

Main strengths

  • DNA race : completely redesigned leading edge, thinner and stiffer for better upwind angles and control at high speeds.
  • Reduced wingspan for greater balance, easier rotations and more controlled freestyle maneuvers.
  • High-tension canopy with optimized volume distribution for rapid acceleration and stability in gust conditions.
  • Ultra-stiff Aluula Aeris™ and Aluula Aeris X™ construction on the leading edge and central strut for instant response and reduced weight.
  • Windows in lightweight X-Ply and graduated ripstop 5x5 / 6x6 to maintain the profile over time and reduce the stretch of the sail.
  • Carbon monocoque handle (Carbon Mono Handle) for a direct, precise and light feel.
  • Wide wind range: efficient profile at low angles of attack, excellent control at high speeds with high performance foils.

Construction and materials

  • Leading Edge & Central Strut: Aluula Aeris™ + Aluula Aeris X™ for maximum stiffness, tear resistance and extremely low weight.
  • Canopy: 5x5 (front) and 6x6 (rear) graduated ripstop to reduce stretch, maintain aerodynamic shape and improve durability over time.
  • Windows: HD Poly X-Ply ripstop, lightweight and rigid, for useful visibility without compromising weight and stiffness.
  • Integrated Battens: Integrated battens on the trailing edge to reduce flutter and improve high-speed control.
  • Handle: Carbon Mono Handle, single, rigid, lightweight and with a comfortable diameter for a precise and low-fatigue grip.
  • Bag: Tubular bag that houses the wing with a mounted handle; the shoulder strap can also be used as a waist leash.

Recommended use

  • Intermediate-advanced riders looking for fast freeride performance with a race feel.
  • Sessions with medium-strong winds where control, stability and high comfort in gusts are required.
  • Freestyle, rotations and aerial maneuvers that benefit from the reduced wingspan and super rigid structure.
  • Fast downwind and long reach, thanks to the efficient profile at low angles of attack.

Differences between Fly IV PRO and FireFly Pro / FireFly Pro LTD

The Fly IV PRO and FireFly Pro both belong to NeilPryde’s high-end range, but are optimized for different uses: the Fly IV PRO has a more fast freerace/freeride feel, while the FireFly Pro is more wave and freestyle oriented with an ultra-light feel and fixed carbon boom.

Usage orientation

  • Fly IV PRO: High-performance freeride with a strong race influence; focus on speed, upwind angles, overpower control and technical maneuvers with a super-stiff structure and reduced wingspan.
  • FireFly Pro / Pro LTD: An extremely lightweight and responsive all-round boom-style kite designed for wave riding, flag surfing, freestyle and intuitive control; it remains one of the lightest boom models on the market.

Structure and materials

  • Fly IV PRO: 100% Aluula Aeris™ and Aluula Aeris X™ on LE and central strut, 5x5 / 6x6 graded ripstop canopy, lightweight X-Ply windows; monocoque carbon handle.
  • FireFly Pro: Aluula Aeris on the tips and AeroTex on the leading edge and strut, high lift profile, very stiff LE with reduced diameter; X-Ply window (instead of PVC) and fixed carbon boom.
  • FireFly Pro LTD: further lightened and stiffened version, optimized for wave / freestyle surfing, with an even more reactive structure than the standard FireFly.

Navigation feeling

  • Fly IV PRO: more “racing” feel, very precise in power and depower, works very well at low angles of attack, excellent in speed, upwind and control in tough conditions.
  • FireFly Pro: ultra-light all-rounder with a boom that improves fine control of power; it stands out for its neutrality when flagged, great stability in flight and easy handling when maneuvering.

Bottom line: Fly IV PRO or FireFly Pro?

  • Choose Fly IV PRO if you are looking for an Aluula wing with a focus on speed, freeride performance, top upwind/downwind and maximum control in strong winds / fast foils.
  • Choose the FireFly Pro / Pro LTD if you want an ultralight boom-style kite, with a direct and intuitive feeling, ideal for waves, flag surfing and freestyle with great responsiveness and neutrality.

Frequently Asked Questions (Q&A)

Q: Who is the NeilPryde Fly IV PRO recommended for?

A: The Fly IV PRO is recommended for intermediate to advanced riders looking for a high-performance wing for fast freeriding, powerful upwind, jumping and technical maneuvers, with great control in medium to strong winds.

Q: What is the difference between Fly IV PRO and FireFly Pro?

A: The Fly IV PRO is an Aluula wing with a freerace/freeride focus, stiffer and optimized for speed and upwind, with a carbon mono-handle; the FireFly Pro is an all-round boom wing oriented towards wave/freestyle, very light, with a fixed carbon boom and great neutrality when flagged surfing.

Q: How stiff is it compared to a traditional Dacron wing?

A: The combination of Aluula Aeris™ and Aeris X™ on the LE and central strut makes the Fly IV PRO significantly stiffer and more responsive than classic Dacron wings, with a profile that remains stable even in overpower and greater efficiency in pumping and acceleration.

Q: Is it also suitable for downwind and wave?

A: Despite having a freerace soul, the Fly IV PRO works very well downwind and in fast wave conditions thanks to its lightweight structure, efficient profile and good control at low angles of attack; for pure wave use and maximum flagged neutrality, however, the FireFly Pro / Pro LTD remains more specific.

Q: What accessories are included?

A: The Fly IV PRO kit includes a tubular bag (which holds the wing with the handle attached), a pump adapter, and a bladder repair kit. Choose your leash of choice (wrist, waist, or shoulder strap plug).

Q: Can I use a smaller wing size than usual?

A: Yes, the High Lift concept and very efficient profile often allow you to go one size lower than a traditional wing, while maintaining a good low-end and gaining control and maneuverability.

Why choose the Fly IV PRO

  • Ultra rigid and light full Aluula structure: more speed, more control, less fatigue in the hands.
  • Race-derived geometry with reduced wingspan: easier technical maneuvers, rotations and freestyle.
  • High tension canopy and stable profile: great wind range and solid behavior in overpower.
  • Ideal as a step-up from Dacron wings or for those coming from FireFly and looking for more speed and performance.
