JP Magic Move Wood Pro 2026
Freemove freeride in medium-strong winds
The JP Magic Move Wood Pro is the small, sporty freeride/freemove designed for riders looking for a 90–110-liter board that's easy to get planing, super fast, and super fun to maneuver. The concept is derived from the JP Freestyle Wave, but with a shape optimized for early planing, aggressive carving, and great control even in the toughest chop.
Strengths
- Small freeride/freemove board for medium-strong winds, ideal for bump & jumps and high-speed freeriding.
- Shape inspired by the Freestyle Wave line, but longer and wider with a wider and more voluminous tail for early planing and stability.
- Rather parallel central outline that offers a large planing surface and stability even when not planing.
- New rail shape: higher central section for more lift when carving and maintaining speed when exiting corners.
- Rail that tapers towards the stern and ends with a “step” to ensure grip and bite in tight turns and on white water.
- Relatively flat scoop–rocker for immediate planing and high top speed.]
- Double V-concave, pronounced at the bow, which works as a shock absorber in chop, with a reduced V between the straps and a more pronounced one towards the tail to combine comfort and maneuverability.
- Lively yet controllable setup: direct underfoot and much looser than traditional freeride boards.
- Particularly effective in carved jibes: it maintains speed on entry, center of the turn and exit, helping to complete more planing maneuvers.
- Excellent for swells, small beach break waves, coasts and reefs, where it allows you to play with the waves with full control.
Construction and technical details
- Wood Pro construction with paulownia wood sandwich on the entire hull, reinforced in high load areas for greater durability and response.
- Parabolic rail reinforcement for extra impact resistance when maneuvering and jumping.
- Integrated Innegra reinforcement in the bow area to absorb accidental impacts and reduce the risk of damage.
- Single Powerbox with Freestyle Wave style fin: large tip surface, curved outline and rear rake for forward thrust and maneuverability.
- Multiple strap position options, with printed scale for precise adjustments.
- New mast foot positioning scale to easily find the ideal setup.
Usage program
- Intermediate and advanced riders who want a unique board for fast freeriding, bump & jumps and carving maneuvers in medium to strong winds.
- Freshwater spots and open sea with chop and small waves, where comfort, control and the ability to carve at high speed are required.
- Those coming from traditional freeride and looking for more "playfulness" and jibe performance without sacrificing ease of planing. JP Magic Move Wood Pro Technical Sheet

JP Magic Move Wood Pro Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What is the difference between the Magic Move and a classic freeride?
A: The Magic Move is based on the Freestyle Wave concept, so it's shorter, wider at the tail, and much more maneuverable than a traditional freeride board. It offers early planing similar to freeride boards but a much looser and more dynamic feel, ideal for jibe carving and bump & jumps.
Q: What level of rider is it recommended for?
A: It's perfect for intermediate riders who can already get planing and complete the base jibe and want to improve their carving maneuvers. Advanced riders will appreciate the speed, responsiveness, and ability to maintain control even in chop and gusts.
Q: Under what conditions does it perform best?
A: The Magic Move performs best in medium to strong winds, on spots with chop, swell, or small waves where you can carve at speed. It works very well on both lakes and the sea, especially when looking for a single board for fast freeriding, bumps and jumps, and turning maneuvers.
Q: Which volume should I choose between 90, 100 and 110 L?
A: Generally speaking, the 90L is suitable for lightweight or very experienced riders who primarily sail in strong winds. The 100L is the most versatile compromise for most riders, while the 110L is ideal for those who weigh more or want more comfort and early planing.
Q: Can I use it for small waves too?
A: Yes, the shape with a wide tail, grippy rail, and a low V makes it very effective in playing with small, well-formed waves, swells, and shallow reef waves. It's not a pure wave board, but it offers a feeling very close to a Freestyle Wave board with even easier planing and faster exit from turns.
