The NeilPryde PROTON is a waist harness with an ultra-light flexible shell, designed for those looking for the ideal mix of lumbar support and maximum freedom of movement when windsurfing and kitesurfing.
The classic hard shell rigid core is replaced by a lightweight and durable composite Surlyn® material, which retains the benefits of a hard shell but offers more flex in areas where the body moves most.

The PROTON was created as a shell waist harness that can be used for both windsurfing and kitesurfing , ideal for wave, freestyle and freeride in both disciplines.
How is it different from a very stiff hardshell harness?
Compared to a fully rigid hardshell, the PROTON maintains good support but offers more lateral flexibility and a less “locked in” feel, making it more comfortable when maneuvering and actively sailing.
Does the trapezius stay still at the waist or does it tend to rise?
The composite core shell design with anti-slip internal panels is designed to prevent the harness from riding up towards the chest, locking it in place during glide.
How do I choose the right size?
