Cabrinha Mantis 2027: the go-to all-round wing, from freeride to big air.
The Mantis has been one of the go-to wings in wingfoil for years. For 2027, Cabrinha has retained the character that made it famous and refined it with new aerodynamic profiles, optimized canopy tension, and a new panel layout for radial load distribution. The result is a more balanced and efficient wing, with more consistent power across the entire wind range. It performs well on flat water, between the waves, and in jumps.
It is a powerful wing, ideal for those who want a single wing for every session: from race to freeride, all the way to the local wave spot. The leading edge has a reduced dihedral, so the Mantis flies balanced from the front handle when you leave it to flag out. In the waves, you can forget about the wing and focus only on your lines.

Technology and construction
- Teijin D2 Ripstop canopy: double ripstop fabric made in Japan. The D2 treatment increases resistance to tears, UV rays, and abrasion.
- Teijin 75 panels on the trailing edge: finer handling without losing durability over time.
- Radial panel layout: the fabric fibers follow the wing's load lines in flight, so the canopy is cleaner and more robust.
- Hybrid 3-stage leading edge: 160 g/m² material in the center for stiffness and 140 g/m² at the ends to reduce swing weight. The wing remains stiff yet responsive.
- Double reinforced center section: more resistance and more stiffness.
- Single rigid boom: maximum control and handling.
- Angled Keylock attachments: indexed attachment points that lock the boom and eliminate any rotation, for rigid and direct control.
- Rigid front handle: precise wing control when you leave it to free fly.
- Redesigned drop strut and convex strut: improved ergonomics and hand positioning, with a rigid and responsive connection between rider and wing.
- TruView window: mesh panel for maximum visibility, which still supports the profile in the center of the canopy.
- Trailing edge battens: keep the profile cleaner and more stable and extend the life of the wing.
- Airframe valve: high-flow one-way valve with a turn-to-lock closure. It inflates with a standard pump hose and is quick to assemble and disassemble.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Mantis also suitable for beginners?
Yes. Cabrinha recommends it for levels from beginner to advanced. It flies in a balanced and predictable way, and the power is progressive, so it is a wing you can learn with and then grow with without changing it. If you are mainly looking for ease of getting started in light wind, also consider the Vision, which has a fuller profile and more immediate power.
What is the difference between the Mantis and the Vision?
The Mantis has a much flatter canopy, especially near the leading edge. At the lower end of the wind range, it requires a bit more pumping to get started. Once in flight, however, the flat profile generates apparent wind and delivers more speed and excellent upwind performance. The lower dihedral also makes it more balanced when flagging out, perfect in waves and for jumps. The Vision is fuller and "grittier": it is the best choice if you often ride in light wind.
What size do I need?
It depends on your weight and the wind at your spot. Use the table above, calculated for a 75 kg rider: if you weigh more, go up a size; if you weigh less, go down. For larger sizes, Cabrinha recommends also taking the rider's height into account to ensure good handling. For a two-wing quiver, a very common combination is 4.0 + 5.5 m². Write to us with your weight and your spot, and we will recommend the right size.
Is it suitable for light wind?
Yes: the 5.5 and 6.0 m² sizes cover a range starting from 7–9 knots. However, with the flat profile, the Mantis requires a bit of pumping technique to get started in the lightest wind. If you mainly ride in light wind, the Vision is easier.
Is it a wing suitable for waves?
It is one of its strengths. Thanks to the reduced dihedral, the Mantis flies balanced and stable from the front handle when flagging out, so you can focus on the wave without thinking about the wing.
What about jumps?
Big air is another of its strengths. The wing provides power when needed and remains stable in the air. It is the ideal choice both for those who want to break their height record and for those who only jump occasionally.
Is the boom rigid or are there handles?
The Mantis has a single rigid boom with non-rotating Keylock attachments, plus a rigid front handle for steering the wing when you leave it to free fly.
What pump is used to inflate it?
The Airframe valve works with a standard pump hose: just insert it and turn to lock it, and the closure is airtight.
How resistant is the fabric
The canopy is made of Teijin D2 Ripstop, a double ripstop fabric made in Japan and treated against tears, UV rays, and abrasion. The battens on the trailing edge also help maintain the profile and extend the life of the wing.
