In poche parole, la Egg Not è la versione squash tail del nostro mid length, la eGG. Con la crescente popolarità dei mid length, offrire una versione squash tail era quasi un passaggio obbligato.
La coda squash aggiunge un po' di superficie, allunga la linea di rail e dà una sensazione più pivottante rispetto a una round tail. La Egg Not è un'ottima aggiunta alla quiver: quando il mare è nella media, garantisce tantissima capacità di prendere onde e attraversa bene le sezioni, restando comunque abbastanza sciolta da virare con facilità. In più, quando il mare cresce un po', funziona sorprendentemente bene lo stesso!
La Egg Not ha un rocker rilassato sulla parte anteriore, che aiuta velocità in pagaiata, presa dell'onda e scivolata generale. La curva leggermente superiore alla media aiuta a stringere l'arco delle virate senza perdere velocità. Lo spessore è leggermente sottile per una tavola di queste dimensioni.
I rail più sottili rendono la tavola più facile da mettere in acqua e aiutano la tenuta in mare più mosso. La configurazione pinne è a scelta: per una sensazione più prestazionale consigliamo un setup a 4 pinne; per qualcosa di più cruiser o tradizionale, un 2+1.
Costruzione - TEC
Il Torq Epoxy Composite (TEC) offre shape performanti in laminazione epossidica sottovuoto: un processo a mano con incollaggio sottovuoto che lega la fibra alla tavola rimuovendo la resina in eccesso, mantenendo il contenuto di resina a un livello molto più basso del normale.
Quali sono i vantaggi?
Si possono aggiungere strati extra di fibra mantenendo basso il peso complessivo: gli shortboard hanno 18oz di fibra sul deck e 10oz sul fondo, circa il doppio della media. Il risultato è leggerezza e durata insieme: peso simile a un PU, ma con molta più fibra e più strati a rinforzare il rail.
Come vanno in acqua?
La performance è molto diretta: il TEC risponde in modo immediato, ottimo nelle onde piccole o deboli, e nelle onde più grandi si rompe molto meno facilmente. Chi è abituato al PU lo sentirà subito più veloce. I rider di squadra riportano tavole che durano 2-4 volte più a lungo.
